The Creators

Irina and Sergei Dyomin are both graduates of Moscow's First Institute of Medicine, Russia's top school of conventional medicine.

"We met on the first day of the first course and it was love at first sight," says Sergei. They shared a dream of becoming effective healers.

After graduation in 1978, they took a conscious decision to explore different paths and pool their discoveries. Sergei stayed on the track of Western medicine while Irina went Eastwards in her search.

She was walking down the street in Moscow when she spotted an institute of reflexology and went in. While working as a laboratory assistant there, she studied acupuncture and began treating patients with impressive results.

Meanwhile, Sergei practised neuropathology and psychotherapy, working with alcoholics and drug addicts. He was deepening his knowledge of how the mind affects the body.

Irina was progressing with her acupuncture but felt the need for equipment to objectively study the meridians. Sergei, who knew about radio technology, created the RUNO pen and computer programme to help his wife. For the first time, objective evidence for the acupuncturist's findings became available and the workings of the body could be seen on the computer screen.

Irina and Sergei have combined ancient Chinese knowledge and modern technology. They have backed up their holistic approach to health with hard science. Theirs has been a true marriage of East and West.

Technical Backup

Natalya Konoplyova is at the end of the telephone in our Moscow office to give technical support to practitioners and patients using the RUNO system. Natalya was always interested in health matters and studied some medicine herself. “I came here to work with the system and now I am working with the public," she says. "Its funny but sometimes I am teaching people over the telephone how to use their computers."
